Jim Barry 2008 Watervale Riesling

You'll get no apologies from me for recommending yet another sensational 2008 Clare riesling. This is fresh, lively and zesty with wonderful lemon and lime flavours, crisp acid and only 11.5% alcohol. Ridiculously easy to drink! $16.

Sandalford 2005 Prendiville Reserve

Searching for a classy red for the holidays that's not mainstream? This is a searingly good Margaret River cabernet, made in small quantities, with wonderful varietal character, ripe fruit, a hint of earthiness and great balance. Superb! $89.

Bremerton 2006 Tamblyn

A recent visit to Langhorne Creek confirmed the region offers great bang for your buck. A blend of cabernet, shiraz, malbec and merlot, this is a big, bold and juicy red - quintessentially Australian - with dark berry flavours and soft tannins. $18.

Pike & Joyce 2008 Pinot Gris

On a warm day you don't want to think too much about what you are drinking; this is delightfully undemanding with peach and pear characters on the palate, hints of minerality and real freshness. More grigio than gris in my book. Really nice! $23.
