Zema Estate 2008 Cluny Cabernet Merlot

The Zema family are known for making beautifully balanced wines that offer immediate pleasure but also reward cellaring. They also have a reputation for wines that are great value for money. This new release is, then, a fairly typical Zema offering; wonderfully enjoyable on release and very reasonably priced. It is a classic Bordeaux blend with a Coonawarra twist. Cabernet sauvignon and merlot dominate, but there is also a smidgen of malbec and cabernet franc. A beautifully structured wine, soft and appealing on the palate with bright berry fruits, hints of spice and nicely integrated oak. Drinkability with a capital D. $26. www.zema.com.au.
